History

The Macquarie University Volleyball Club was established in 2017 and has provided opportunities for students who wish to continue competitive Volleyball whilst balancing their studies at Macquarie. Over the last 7 years, the Volleyball Club have achieved success in the SVL scene, with our Men's team taking Gold in Div 4 2023 and Gold in Div 3 2024 and at UniSport Nationals events, with our Women's Div 1 team taking Gold and Men's Div 1 team taking Bronze in 2023!

About Us

We offer recreational and competitive opportunities. We are affiliated with Volleyball NSW and compete in the Sydney Volleyball League (SVL) more info HERE. We host weekly sessions throughout the year at the Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre (MUSAC), more info HERE. We also enjoy a range of social events throughout the year, check the "Events" section below. Is it hard to make friends at uni? No worries, this is the perfect place for you as you not only create life-long friends but play the best sport ever!! 

Becoming a Member

We have listened!! We have changed our semester based membership which had limited flexibility to now a very flexible membership which has no limits. You can now go to as many session as you desire!! 

All you need to do are follow these steps:

  1. Have a valid Recreational Volleyball NSW (VNSW) membership [Insurance]- (Visit the VNSW affiliated website https://www.revolutionise.com.au/mqvc/registration/) *If you have a current membership from last semester you do not need to buy this again as this membership is valid for the whole year* 
  2. Purchase the MQVC Membership  [Press Join or Renew] which will be $10 for Students and $20 for Community members *This is an important step as it shows us that you are a member of the club and will allow you to book sessions* 
  3. Click and purchase the session/s that you would like to participate in 
  4. Create an Envibe account here (This is what is used to sign into Macquarie Uni Sports and Aquatic centre and will soon be linked to your barcode/student ID/membership card)

2025 Semester 1 Timetable

There will be 2 courts, on one side it will consist of players that are beginner-intermediate and another court with intermediate-advanced players.

FAQs

Do you have to be a member to play?

Yes, you have to have both an SVNSW membership (Insurance) purchased through the Volleyball NSW website which will be valid for the whole year so 1 payment for the year, and the Volleyball Club membership (MQVC Membership) purchased through Macquarie University Sport which will be valid for the whole semester.

Is it beginner friendly?

Yes of course! We welcome everyone no matter what skill level you are at, as we provide social sessions to learn new skills and improve existing skills. Not only is it beginner friendly we do also provide an advanced session to those that are looking to play at a higher level than a normal social session. We encourage everyone 

How many sessions a week can I go to? 

As many as you want!! There is no limit this time, you are free to book your spot as long as there is space for that session. We had recently added a semester membership which is a cheaper alternative for those that will come regulary. 

Can I come to trial a session? 

Yes!! This Friday we are opening up sessions for everyone to come and trial what it's like or for those that just want to come down for a hit 

When do sessions start? 

We start officially in Week 2 of Semester 1, located at the Rec Hall in the Macquarie University Sports and Aquatic Centre. However, During week 1 there will be trial sessions available. 

Do I have to start straight away? 

No you do not if you would like you can join anytime throughout the semester.

Do I have to go every week?

No, the attendance is very flexible you are not required to go every week, we understand that everyone has a busy schedule. 

What happens if I can't make my session anymore?

Please give 24 hours' notice to cancel your booking. Unfortunately, we cannot give any refund if there is not notice by this deadline.
