The Macquarie University Dance Club is one of the most successful University dance clubs in Australia. We have 7 teams spread across 4 styles; jazz, contemporary, hip hop and pom. Since 2015, the club has achieved 27 national titles across all genres.
History
The Macquarie University Dance Club was established in 2015 and has provided opportunities for students who wish to continue competitive dance whilst balancing their studies at Macquarie for the past decade. In this short time, the Dance Club have achieved 27 National Titles across the four dance styles; Pom, Jazz, Hip Hop and Lyrical/Contemporary, making us one of the most successful University Dance Clubs in Australia.
About Us
The Macquarie University Dance Club is one of the most successful University dance clubs in Australia. We have 7 teams spread across 4 styles; jazz, contemporary, hip hop and pom. Since 2015, the club has achieved 27 national titles across all four genres and is the reigning Uni-Sport National Champions.
We are affiliated to the Australian All-Star Cheerleading Federation (AASCF) and compete frequently throughout the year. In 2025, the club will compete in 3 regional competitions, UniSport nationals in September and AASCF Nationals in Melbourne in late November.
Entry to the club is by audition only. As we are a competitive club, your availability and commitment to competitions and training is essential. Being part of the club is a full year commitment. We train weekly at the Macquarie University Sport & Aquatic Centre (MUSAC).
We also have a range of social events throughout the year where we hang out and celebrate our achievements as a club! We strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels like a valued member of the club.
So, If you are an experienced dancer who is looking to continue competitive dance throughout university life and meet like-minded people to make lifelong memories then the Macquarie University Dance Club is for you!
Becoming a Member
There are 2 ways to become a member of the Macquarie University Dance Club; you can choose to obtain a casual membership which will provide you with access to all of our Monday open classes throughout the year or audition to join our competition teams
Competition team auditions are held in late February at the start of the University year and successful applicants will join their respective teams and begin preparations for the competition season immediately.
